The Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations is recommended for more experienced operators who are currently working on an open pit site. We recommend for employers who are wishing to offer their employees the opportunity to achieve a Nationally Recognised Qualification which is transportable across Australia recognising their knowledge and skills in surface extraction.
The program offers units in risk, safety, communication as well as key units related to equipment such as EWP, telescopic handler and wheel loader (when available on site).
This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as production operators, working in open cut coal or metalliferous mines or quarries, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures. This qualification is available for sites that wish to provide this for their employees.
